Jerry and I were up early this morning even though there was no need to be up that early. It snowed yesterday and I ended up booking us a shuttle last night to take us to the airport. They were to pick us up at 9am. The driver arrived at 9am and we were loaded and off…slowly to the airport. The roads were icy but others had been on the roads before us. We probably should have gotten a room at one of the airport hotels last night. But I hadn’t had a chance to pack until last night so that wasn’t an option or didn’t cross my mind either.
We were at the airport in plenty of time to get our bags checked and through security with plenty of time to relax at the gate. We were flying first class so we were one of the first passengers on the plane. We were on the 767-300. Talk about flying in style! You could recline the seats to lie down. They served us drinks, nuts, drinks, lunch, drinks, cookies, and then mints before we were off the plane and looking for our bags. Since we were flying first class our bags were marked as priority but they were some of the last bags off the plane. We waited quite a while for our shuttle and then finally we were on our way to the hotel.
We are staying at the Crowne Plaza at the cruise port. We can see the port from the hotel. They have a free shuttle to the cruise port which starts at 10:30am.
Tonight we are meeting Bud and Carolee who Jerry met on the Cruise Critic in the hotel lobby and then will head off to have dinner. They found a restaurant that is open today which is Christmas Day, so we will meet them at 5:15pm.
Dinner was great. Bud drove us to Redondo Beach where we enjoyed some excellent prime rib and filet at the Splash Restaurant which is at the Crowne Plaza at the marina. Very nice.
