Our Greek Isles/Mediterranean

Crown Princess Cruise May 2009

Crown Princess

Dolphin Deck 9 Cabin 415We were onboard and in our cabin by 11:30am.We didn't take a lot of pictures of the ship since we have been on Crown's sister, Emerald. We will take some throughout the cruise but nothing like we do when it's our first time on the ship.

We did get some lunch at the buffet and then back to our cabin to settle in with what we have so far. Our bags should come sometime this afternoon.

We met our cabin steward, Grenny. I think we were a bit early for him as he wasn't finished setting up our cabin before we arrived. We had a couple of vouchers from our cruise agent, Cappy who sent us a bottle of champagne and a bottle of red or white wine of our choice. She's so good to us!!!

Jerry got his bag and was able to get it unpacked as we chilled in our cabin this afternoon. It took a while longer before I got my small bag. I was able to get those things put away and shortly after that our cabin steward knocked on the door and brought us a plate of chocolate covered. They were delicious!!

Jerry wanted to go down to the muster drill before the alarm sounded. We met a nice couple from Boston there. After the muster drill we made our way back to the cabin.

cruise critic sailaway partyWe came back to the cabin and put away our life jackets then headed to the aft of the ship to the Terrace Pool Outrigger Bar area for the Cruise Critic sail away. Just as Jerry opened the door he found my big bag. He drug it into the cabin and we put it on the bed before we headed to the aft of the ship.

There were quite a few people already there and everyone was getting their name tags thanks to Sue and Carol from Middletown, New York. They did an awesome job on the nametags.

We had a really nice turnout and I think everyone enjoyed visiting with one another and getting to know those they have been communicating with via the forum for all these months.

After the sail away we went in to the seafood buffet. It was really good. We really enjoy our seafood!

Once we got back to the cabin I got my big bag unpacked and got all settled in.

The weather is really nice. At dusk it was 70 degrees as we were sailing toward Monte Carlo.

Sea Day

Jerry and I have had a relaxing sea day. We definitely needed it. We met with the Head Waiter Amindo and got all the details and signed off on the form for the Chef's Table. When we got back on board yesterday from our Amalfi Coast drive we had a message waiting on our phone. We will do the Chef's Table tomorrow, Friday night.

It was a bit foggy this afternoon. The captain has been blowing his fog horn quite a bit.

Tonight is formal night. Jerry called and made reservations for dinner tonight in the Davinici where it is the alternative dining. We have been to that dining room twice now and it has worked out ok. We met two really nice couples on our first night there. They were from Chicago and Oregon.

Chef's Table

Jerry and I had experienced the Chef's Table last year while on the Emerald Princess which was quite an experience. We had totally enjoyed it last year so were ready to experience it again. We got dressed and went down to meet at the International Cafe. Once all the couples were together the Maitre d' Hotel came and got us fitted with our white coats and then took us through the dining room and into the galley. We washed our hands and then went on our tour of the galley. Where we also enjoyed some appetizers and champagne.

After the tour we went back through the dining room and were seated at our table where we experienced a wonderful dinner. If you ever get the chance to do this you have to do it.

Here's our pictures.
