Princess Cays

Emerald Princess Cruise Trip

April 2008

Princess Cays Bahamas

bungalows

We're in port at Princess Cays which is located in the Bahamas in the southern portion of the Island of Eleuthera, on Sunday, April 13th. There's not much to do here but lie on the beach. Jerry had rented a bungalow when we were still at home but we decided we would pass on it and turned it back in after we boarded the ship. The bungalow is air conditioned and you have your own wait staff and it holds six people. Besides all the lounge chairs there are cabanas you can also rent.

tenders being unloaded

Jerry and I had breakfast and then later went up to the Skydeck to take some pictures and video. We watched as they unloaded the tenders this morning. We are anchored here and will be tendered to shore. Everyone is to meet in the Princess Theatre to get in line for boarding the tender. We decided to wait for the crowds to get ashore and then we will head over to look around, take some pictures and then we will have lunch there.

tender with food

We saw one of the tenders this morning headed over loaded with ice coolers and such. They have what they consider a "BBQ" lunch. The crew goes ashore and fires up the grill to cook chicken breast, hamburgers, bratwurst and pork ribs along with the fixings.

Jerry and I went down to the Princess Theatre about 10:45am to get in line for the tender. We were on the tender and almost to shore at 11:30am. We were just in time for lunch so we looked around a little got some pictures and then got some lunch. We headed back shortly after we ate and walked around a little while longer. We had to sit on the tender for a while waiting for it to fill up before they would take us back to the ship. This was our only port that we had to tender to shore.

It was a little rocky coming back from shore this afternoon. I heard a lot of people talking at different times throughout the cruise that the ship was rocking and rolling but it was nothing compared to what we have experienced before. I figure their rides on the tenders would make them realize it wasn't that bad during the trip.

Jerry will start his packing this afternoon. I did most of mine this morning while we waited to go to shore.

Sailaway today is at 4pm and when we will head back to Fort Lauderdale and to reality!

We will have dinner in the dining room one last time and then come back and finish packing so we can put our luggage out to be picked up this evening. Tomorrow morning when we disembark we will retrieve our luggage and then go through the line for US Customs and then hand our bags over to the porter to get to the proper transportation to go to the airport. We will not see them again until we get to the DFW Airport and retrieve them there.

We have been listening to the news and hearing about all the flight cancellations for American Airlines so we hope all will be well when we get to the airport tomorrow morning since we are flying home on an MD-80. From what we have gathered today by checking the AA website everything is back on schedule now.

Here are some nice pictures from the beach at Princess Cays.
