Grenada

Emerald Princess Cruise Trip

April 2008

St George's Grenada

We're in port at Grenada on April 9th. I joined Jerry up on deck to take pictures of us coming into port at 11am. The Emerald Princess was joining a German Cruise ship, the Aida in port today.

We took a ship tour today that Jerry booked for us before we left home. We left at 12:20pm and didn't return until 4:30pm. We were all around the island. This island has an average of 60 inches of rain per year. They have some lovely flowers.

We were in a brand new tour van which was very nice. Jerry took the seat up front to get some good video as we drove. The roads were narrow so some of the vehicles we would meet coming toward us was quite scary. A few times throughout the trip Jerry had people come up to him and tell him what a great driver he was not realizing he wasn't the one driving although he was sitting on the left side of the van.

We did visit one of the forts and a house that neither Jerry nor myself can remember what it was but there were lots of beautiful flowers. There was a monkey sitting on the picnic table while we were there.

We were at the highest point of the island at 1910 feet above sea level on our way to see one of the waterfalls that could reached easily by foot the others you must hike to.

Nutmeg tree

Grenada is known as the "Spice Island" so we saw lots of spices growing throughout the island. This island was the first one where the natives swarmed you wanting to sell you spices. It was very much like being in Jamaica or Mexico. There was lots of nutmeg growing around the island.

Tonight we will dine at the Crown Grill which is an extra fee for dining there. Jerry has already decided he will order the 2 1/2 pound lobster but hasn't made a decision yet if he is going to have steak along with it. It will be another gastronomic experience so we will have the camera along with us to make sure we will get it on memory card.

Here's our pictures from our tour.

Enjoy our Crown Grill pictures here.
