Our Hawaii Trip - Oahu Day Six |
We were up early this morning to get to Pearl Harbor and go to the USS Arizona Memorial. We had a little problem getting to the right spot but we prevailed. We were in group three so we did have a little bit of a wait but not bad. The gates open at 7:30am and our group went into the theatre at 8:15am to watch the 23 minute video before boarding the boat out to the site.
Once we disembarked back at the visitors center we headed out to the car and left for the north shore. It was a nice drive up there. We had the top up and did get rained on while we were on the road. Once to the north shore we stopped and did put the top down. We drove all along the shore and down to the windward side of the island which is where we are staying. It was a pretty drive.
We were back at the guesthouse six hours after we had initially left this morning. It looks like we will get up early tomorrow morning and make our way to Diamond Head, (you have to go early) and then to Wiakiki Beach before heading to the Punchbowl Crater where the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific is.
We went to get BBQ for dinner this evening. We ended up at Kailua BBQ which turned out to be more like Chinese. We ordered a family meal and took it back to the guest house to eat. It was good we just didn't know exactly what we were eating some of the time. We spent $20 on the meal and had enough leftover for lunch tomorrow.
