Our Hawaii Trip - Maui Day Two |
We were up early this morning even though we were still tired. The condo has no air conditioning but it doesn't matter. We opened all the shutters when we arrived last night to let the breezes in. It was really nice. The downside of the shutters open is you hear everyone walking along the walk. We are thrilled we are upstairs and noone can see in.
We can hear the water and the waves crashing onto the rocks outside. The property goes down to the waters edge but it is rocky so no walking the beach in the mornings.
Jerry decided to stay at the condo today to relax and watch the race on tv. Toby and I wasted no time getting showered, dressed and out to the Mustang to go for a ride. We had the top down and were on the road by 8am this morning on our way to the lava fields on the south side down past Makena.
There are a lot of places down through there that it is curvy and a little hilly so it does take some manuevering. We made it all the way to the lava fields and the dirt road before we finally turned around to come back.
We stopped off at Big Beach on our way back just to show Toby. Jerry and I had been down through there the last time we were here. We could see the island Kaho'olawe which is inhabited. What a beautiful place!
On our way back to the condo we were going to go shopping. We stopped off in Kihei at the Pi'ilani Village Shopping Center but most of the stores were closed. We did make our way up to Ma'alaea and stopped at the Aquarium where there was more shops before heading back to the condo again.
After we had lunch Toby and I set out to go to the beach and on our way we stopped so he could rent a boogie board.
Tonight rather than the traditional rehearsel dinner Blake and Robert did some cooking. They fired up the grills on the property and grilled up some chicken, beef and vegetables. We had a feast!
