Our 7th Anniversary |
Our anniversary fell on a Wednesday this year so we came home bearing gifts to be exchanged and then went out for Margaritas after we had our celebratory glass of Champagne. Jerry gave me a new pda which is a Dell Axim. It is slimmer than my previous one and I really do like it. I came home with a basket full of goodies for Jerry what he usually calls my periwinkle gifts for him. He thinks I give him things that are really for me....well, I guess this was kind of the case this time around...Jerry is so hard to buy for but I do know what he enjoys so I went out and bought a couple of bottles of French wine and a bottle of French Champagne for us to enjoy at the end of our "date". Jerry was excited about our plans and I was too for that matter.
I got us tickets for the matinee on Saturday, February 7, 2004 at the Theatre Three, "the theatre-in-the-round at the Quadrangle" in Dallas. We saw "The Wild Party" which is set in the 1920's and based on the poem by Joseph Moncure March. It was a bit racy with an adult theme and all.
After leaving the theatre we went up to Denton where I had reserved us a room and dinner at the Wildwood Inn Bed and Breakfast. It is a really neat place. They built this probably four years ago. It has a European flair to it which we really did enjoy. There are a total of 13 rooms and each has their own special ambience.

We were in Room Four because the one I initially called for was already booked. Room Four is a charming French country decor with a 4-poster bed and a window seat. It also has a whirlpool tub and shower. The room is decorated mostly in red. Also, known as the "Red Room".

After relaxing for a while in our room after checking in we shared some of the French Champagne from Jerry's special basket. It was wonderful and we had some of the Havarti Dill cheese to accompany it. We finished off the Champagne and then headed to the dining room for our dinner. I had made dinner reservations for 6pm.

The waiter brought us a complimentary appetizer which was smoked salmon on a cracker with a basil cream sauce and fresh capers. We then received our salad, Jerry had ordered the Caesar salad which turned out to be butter lettuce. I had the house salad with mixed greens with the house dressing.

For our entrees, Jerry ordered the special which consisted of Flounder, Bacon wrapped Scallops and Shrimp with Wildwood Potatoes. I had the Tuna which had a tomato and caper relish on top. The presentation of the food and the flavor was just wonderful. We will definitely return again for dinner and a nice night away from home to experience the other rooms.

The sitting room we didn't get to spend any time in as time was limited but it sure is a pretty room. The hallway takes you down to the dining room and front desk.

Upon entering the front door you can look up and see the upstairs. There are eight rooms upstairs. The front entry was decorated for Valentine's Day.
Obviously in February we didn't enjoy the pool but they do have a nice one and from what we read they do have quite a lot of weddings on the premises.
