New Year's Eve 2003
We hadn't gone out to a New Year's Eve party in a couple of years and Jerry had heard about the Beach Boys doing a concert on New Year's Eve at the Adam's Mark Hotel downtown Dallas so we decided it sounded like fun. Jerry got our tickets and a room for us and we were off to the Beach Boys.
We had a bit of a wait to get checked in because it just so happened the fans from Ole Miss and the Oklahoma State University who were playing in the Cotton Bowl were checking in at the same time. I guess we all thought we would get there early and beat the crowd, didn't happen! We stood in line for about 20 minutes before getting checked in.
We had a nice room overlooking the city from the 25th floor. What a view!
After relaxing for a while we got dressed for our night out. We went down and got our place in line for the doors to open. We saw Stan and Carol and their friends as they made their way into the hotel. There was a buffet dinner. The food was really good. There was a huge dessert table with so many irresistable desserts we had to try most all of them. There were casino tables set up outside of the ballroom.
The Beach Boys were to come on stage at 10:30pm, but they didn't show up on stage till close to 11pm. There are different bands touring as the Beach Boys now. Mike Love and Dennis Wilson are the only two originals here. It was fun hearing all the old tunes again. They played till a little after midnight but they did stop at midnight to toast to the New Year and then they went back to playing.
We did have some really nice table mates. We were at a table of ten and right in front of the stage with the dance floor between the stage and us. One of our table mates brought an old album and was able to get up by the stage to have it signed. He was thrilled. We had a great time.
We awoke on New Year's Day to so much fog that we couldn't see the street below. We made our way home soon after.
